You may be able to make a gift to Asolo Rep with a distribution from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) and take advantage of tax savings. The current law extends the charitable IRA rollover provision indefinitely – with no expiration date – allowing individuals to make qualifying gifts every tax year. So, even if you chose to support Asolo Rep in this way last year, you may do so once again.
Under The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act of 2015, Americans over the age of 70½ may distribute up to $100,000 in a calendar year from an IRA to Asolo Rep or other qualified charities free of federal income tax.
- You must be 70½ or older.
- You may distribute any amount up to $100,000 in a calendar year to charity, as long as it is completed by December 31 of the year in which you intend to make the charitable distribution.
- Your IRA administrator must make the distribution directly to the charity.
If you have questions, please contact Tricia Mire at Tricia_Mire@asolo.org or (941) 351-9010 ext 4700.
Before proceeding, you should consult with your tax advisor to discuss your particular situation, including any impact of your state's tax laws. All IRA charitable distributions are restricted from receiving benefits, including tickets.
Gifts may be sent to Asolo Rep Development Department, 5555 N. Tamiami Tr., Sarasota FL 34243.
