Amenities & Accessibility

The theatres, parking, and bathrooms are all fully accessible to persons with disabilities. Refreshments are available in the lobby.

The lobby is open one hour prior to each performance. Patrons may enjoy drinks and light refreshments catered by Morton’s Gourmet Market and Catering prior to the show and at intermission. Pre-order your intermission refreshments. Please refrain from bringing food purchases into the theatre.

Hearing Loop Sysytem

Asolo Repertory Theatre is now equipped with a hearing loop system in both the Mertz and Cook Theatres to assist those with hearing aids or cochlear implants equipped with telecoils (T-Coil). Sound is transmitted directly from our P.A. system without background noise or interference to better serve our patrons. By turning your hearing aid to “T” for reception, you will be able to hear our performances with improved amplification and clarity. Seats in the Mertz NOT equipped with the loop include Row A in the orchestra and Row F in the mezzanine. For those patrons who do not have the T-Coil system, complimentary hearing amplification headsets are available in our lobby for both theatres.

Free parking is available in front of the theatre, however close proximity parking for weekday matinee performances is limited. Please plan to arrive early. Accessible parking is on the front and east sides, with ramp access to the lobby.

Wheelchair Accommodations

Wheelchair seating is available in all theatres and must be requested in advance. Please call the box office.

Mertz Theatre orchestra seating is at street level. An elevator is available to the mezzanine, with a few steps into seats. Balcony seating is steep, and at least one flight of stairs must be maneuvered. In the Cook Theatre, most seats require mobility up or down a small number of stairs.

GalaPro Spanish and English Captioning

GalaPro is a free smartphone-enabled (iOS and Android) app that allows patrons to read captions of a performance in real time. The captions are activated by the voice of the actors on stage, providing an authentic, live theatrical experience. The app can only be used when the device is in airplane mode and automatically dims the smartphone's screen as to not disturb the experience of surrounding patrons.

Asolo Rep will proudly unveil this new technology at THE SOUND OF MUSIC IllumiNation event and matinee performance on Saturday, November 23. Captioning will be available in English and Spanish. Now in its fifth season, IllumiNation is a series of performances and events promoting cross-cultural conversations in the community.

GalaPro will be available for all performances of THE SOUND OF MUSIC from November 23 onward. It will also be offered for the theatre's winter repertory season (Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient ExpressThe Lifespan of a Fact and Into the Breeches!), with plans to expand offerings in future seasons. The app is available nine performances into the run of a production, giving the technology time to "learn" the musical or play in order to accurately relay dialogue.
