Asolo Rep Young Artist Homeschool Classes are online theatre experiences, tailored for the homeschool student! These dynamic classes connect core subjects to theatre while creating an environment where everyone from the beginner to the young professional can explore and enjoy theatre. Designed for Ages 8-18.

Theatremakers Lab: Mythology
Dates: 2/3-3/10 (6 sessions)
Day and Time: Wednesdays, 10:00am-11:30am EST
Hey Homeschoolers: Get ready for a class of MYTHICAL proportions!
Explore mythology from around the world as we create mini-theatrical productions about mighty stories. In this 6-week class, stories connect with friends while learning performance techniques such as improvisation, dance, visual arts, playwriting, and traditional acting skills. The class will culminate with a digital production of our work that can be shared with friends and family.

- Who is this class for: This class is for young people looking to flex their creativity, connect with others, and build their theatre skills. No prior theatre experience required.
Young Artists are using online platforms such as Zoom and Google Classroom, but will also be challenged to take their work off the screen and into the real world.

Meet the Teaching Artist: Tiana Turner
Tiana is the Education & Engagement Specialist at Asolo Rep. She is committed to using theatre to foster adventure, tell brave stories and create whimsical art for and with young people.
Tiana received her M.F.A in Theatre For Youth from Arizona State University where she researched the importance of theatre as a teaching tool in the homeschooling curriculum. As a lifelong homeschooler, Tiana is a passionate advocate for promoting the importance of the arts in homeschooling and pushing for arts accessibility for all at-home learners. In addition to her work at Asolo Rep, she has extensive experience as a teaching artist with notable companies across the country including: DogEar Theatre Productions, Nashville Children’s Theatre, Seattle Children’s Theatre, Childsplay, and Disney Musicals in Schools. In addition to her teaching work, Tiana is trained in acting, directing, devising, the critical response process, and community engagement.
Does your young person know that they want to be a theatre artist? Expand your theatre curriculum by enrolling them in the Young Artist Academy. In these classes 8th-12th grade students dive in to advanced performance training that will push them to the next artistic level.
Online Class Cancellation and Withdrawal Policy
Asolo Rep reserves the right to alter or cancel programs as necessary. If a program is cancelled by Asolo Rep, participants will receive a tuition refund in full.
All withdrawal requests must be sent in writing to [email protected]
If a participant withdraws from a class before the second day of class, the registration cost is refunded, less a $25 administrative fee.
Due to the resource scheduling and commitments required to provide the programs, no refunds are given after the second day of class.

Awakening Shakespeare: Homeschool Edition
Dates: 11/11-12/16, no class 11/25
Day and Time: Wednesdays, 10:00am-11:30am
Diving into Shakespeare can be daunting. This class is designed to kinesthetically connect homeschool students with the characters and stories found in Shakespeare's classic plays. Students will gain confidence as they explore the language and history of Elizabethan England and the work of the Bard himself. Though no prior experience with Shakespeare is necessary for this class, the seasoned bard-lover will make new discoveries as they embody and experiment with Shakespearean text, classic stories, and exciting performance techniques.
