Asolo Rep Theatre Guild

Deepen your theatre experience.

From traveling play readings to backstage revelations by the creative artists to dinners that let you mingle with the cast and creative teams, the Asolo Rep Guild extends your experience in theatre beyond an evening’s entertainment. The Guild is one of the oldest auxiliary organizations serving a Sarasota arts institution, marking its 45th year in 2019.

Guild members volunteer their time and talents to support programs designed to provide members and the public with a greater understanding and appreciation of theatre. The goal of the Guild is to help preserve and promote Asolo Rep’s place in our community and help develop present and future audiences. In addition, Guild members enjoy a more personal benefit—building close, lasting relationships by joining with others who share the love of theatre. We encourage you to join us!

Play Readers

Members of the Guild Play Readers take the excitement of live theater out to the community by presenting staged readings at libraries, residential complexes, and community centers. Most presenters are former professional and community theater actors and educators. The Play Readers Group also meets monthly to put on live readings of play scripts.

Access To The Arts

The Guild is the founding sponsor of this Asolo Rep Education program that helps provide thousands of local students the opportunity to attend performances at a greatly reduced cost. Many of these young people are experiencing live theatre for the first time.  Funds raised through Guild events support Asolo Rep’s school-based Access to the Arts programs.

Dine with the Cast & Crew Potluck Dinners

Every Asolo Rep production requires at least one 12-hour day from its actors and crew for a tech run-through. To break up this grueling marathon, Guilders potluck for them a sumptuous feast. Sitting across the table hearing stories about their lives in theatre brings the artists up close and personal. These events have become actor favorites!

Members will be notified of the time for the following dinners.
