Costume Shop Manager

Starting his 23rd season with Asolo, the majority of which he has served as the Costume Shop Manager. David is also a free-lance designer and works with many of the theatre companies in the greater Sarasota area. Prior to relocating to Sarasota, David lived in New York and worked in several of the Broadway costume shops on productions including Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Crazy for You, and Guys and Dolls. He worked with a museum exhibit firm making figurines for display in such places as The National Museum of the American Indian, Motown Café, and SONY headquarters. David is extremely proud of and thankful for the team that works with him to create incredible visuals for the Asolo stages.

Costume Technician/Stitcher

Teresa began working in the Asolo costume shop as a Stitcher in 2002. Her other professional costuming credits include The Human Race Theatre Company (Dayton, OH), North Shore Music Theatre (Beverly, MA), Johnny Appleseed Outdoor Drama (Mansfield, OH), Mannes Opera (New York, NY), Hawaii Opera, Banyan Theater Company and Sarasota Opera Company. Teresa has also enjoyed the opportunity of working on various productions with the Booker High School VPA. Before becoming a costumer, Teresa was a custom window treatment workroom manager in La Crosse, WI.

Draper/Cutter/Costume Designer/Craft Artisan

June’s passion for creating costumes continues into its fourth decade at the Asolo Repertory Theatre! Since 1978, June has worked as a Design Assistant, Draper/Cutter, Costume Designer, and Craft Artisan. She has designed costumes for both the Asolo main stage and the FSU/Asolo Conservatory. June was resident costume designer for The Riverfront Theatre in Bradenton for 8 years, where she designied over 55 productions. She was also the costume designer for the Sarasota Youth Opera and assistant to the designer for the Sarasota Opera. June has lectured to the Rhoades Scholar Program on costuming for over a decade. Her husband, Bert, is Master Carpenter/Welder for the Asolo’s Scenic Studio. Together they have 5 children and 9 grandchildren. They enjoy travelling and tent camping, especially in the western USA, accompanied by their black lab, Jake.

Shea ONeil is ecstatic to return to the Asolo Costume Shop for his second season. He graduated from Florida School of the Arts in 2012 and went on to study at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. After stitching for the Asolo’s 2015-16 season, he was the Costume Designer in Residence for The Barter Players (A National Touring Children’s Theater Company) for 3 years. Other costume shops Shea has had the pleasure to work for include: The Sarasota Opera, The Richmond Ballet, Virginia Repertory Theater, and The Chautauqua Theater Company. Shea’s favorite shows he’s worked on for the Asolo are: West Side Story and Living on Love. When not sewing here, he loves to knit, sew drag costumes for himself and other drag queen friends, and loves playing with and giving belly rubs to wonderful pup, Juno.

Emily has had the pleasure of working as a Draper in the Asolo costume shop since 2015. Before coming to the Asolo, she earned her MFA in Costume Technology from the University of Texas at Austin and has worked at regional theatres across the country. Some of her favorite shows to have worked on here at the Asolo include Living on Love, Guys and Dolls, and The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Diety.

Sofia Gonzalez is excited to work another season as the Asolo Conservatory Costume Designer for a second year. Her time with the Asolo began after graduating from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in 2016. Previously, she has worked as a designer with Triad Stage and as a Stitcher at the Glimmerglass Opera Festival. Besides designing, she enjoys millinery and crafts work. In her spare time, she likes chilling with her dog Yuffie and gaming with friends.

Laine is thrilled to be starting her 8th season at the Asolo as a Draper in the costume shop. A graduate of Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, Laine work at the Dayton Ballet for seven years. She has also traveled with the national tours of Rent and The Producers, and was the women’s ensemble dresser on Spamalot in Las Vegas. A few of her favorite Asolo shows to have worked on were Evita, The Game’s Afoot, Living on Love, and Fanny Bryce.

This is Dee’s second season with the Asolo costume shop and she is excited to be working as the Assistant to the Costume Shop Manager this season. Dee received her BA in Theatre with a concentration in Costume Design at the University of Wyoming. She also spent four years singing, dancing, acting, and teaching music and theatre around the world with the outreach group, The Young Americans. When not at work, Dee loves to write music, take photographs, and travel. She is so grateful for the opportunity to work in the Asolo costume shop.

Becky is honored to be starting her second season as a Draper in the prestigious Asolo costume shop. After graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design, she moved to Sarasota, and was a costume designer in the area for four years. She has worked at the Venice Theatre and was the Resident Costume Designer at the Manatee Performing Arts Center. When she’s not working, Becky enjoys sewing costumes for herself and playing fetch with her dog, Lola.

Darci has recently moved from Minnesota and is in her second season here at the Asolo Repertory Theatre. Darci learned to sew from her mother and has taken a lot of courses in basic construction to pattern makin and draping. She has sewn for several other theatres in the Minnesota and Boston Areas. Darci enjoys making costumes for her friends, family, and herself. She has Bachelors of Science in Interior Design with a minor in Costume Construction. After being a stay at home mom to her 2 daughters, she is happy to be working in a position she loves here at the Asolo.

This is Maureen’s 23rd season at the Asolo Repertory Theatre. Formerly she has worked in the costume shops at the Old Vic Theatre (London), the Salder’s Wells Ballet (London), and Eaves Costume Co. (NYC). Maureen was also the Costume Shop Manager at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.
